-Rescheduled Event*- "Images of Valor"- World War II an Evening with Gene Burton

Rescheduled Event!!

Join us on Monday, June 10th, at 6:15 PM for our 4th Annual Pop-Up Museum Dinner held at Levelland High School.

This year's Pop-Up Museum featured Levelland Middle School students from the National History Day program, Levelland High School students, and History majors from South Plains College.

“Images of Valor: U.S. Latinos and Latinas in World War II,” is an exhibition by the School of Journalism and Center for Mexican American Studies at The University of Texas at Austin and presented in partnership with Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. It highlights the frequently unrecognized contributions of Latino Americans in the war.

This year's guest presenter for our dinner is Levelland ISD Educator, Gene Burton.

Gene Burton spent his first 10 years of life in Guatemala, where his mother participated in the UN peacekeeping mission during the final phase of the country's 30-year civil war. His father was a member of the US Army. After graduating from Levelland High School in 2010, he pursued a double major in History and Spanish at Texas Tech University and obtained his bachelor's degrees in 2013.

In 2024, Gene earned his Master's degree in History from Missouri State University. Since 2016, he has been an educator at Levelland ISD and aspires to become a history professor at South Plains College, as well as to publish several books he is currently writing. His expertise lies in the Second World War, particularly in military aviation and the history of small arms. Together with his wife Danae, they enjoy leading worship at First Baptist Church in Levelland, traveling, and cultivating their homestead in West Texas.

Together we will enjoy good food and delve into "How the Second World War United the United States."

Jeana's Feedbag will cater this delectable meal. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and children (2-12 years of age). Pre-purchase is required. No refunds.

Levelland High School is located at 1400 Hickory St. Levelland, TX 79336.
