Wallace Weekend Players

  • Levelland Wallace Theater 823 Houston Street Levelland, TX 79336 (map)

Have you ever wanted to perform on stage? Do you like to write? Do you like to laugh or make others laugh? Do you love telling stories?  Or are you more comfortable behind the scenes as a director, stage manager or a designer? Do you want to build on the skills you are learning in your theatre class? No matter what your interests are, there is a place for you in Theatre. Theatre is for everyone because everyone likes stories. This class is completely FREE and lunch is provided each week! All you have to do is show up and have fun.

The theme this semester will be “Fairy Tales” and their modern adaptations. We will look at classic stories like The Wizard of OZ and Peter Pan to see how they have been adapted into more modern plays and musicals like Wicked, and Peter and The Star Catcher. In our weekly classes, we will discuss playwrighting, costuming, designing, and of course, the narrative, directing, and acting elements of these shows.  We will also begin working on our own production of the Broadway hit, Peter and The Star Catcher.  Above all, we will have fun learning and telling stories together.

Throughout the year, we will also work with professional guest artists from Texas Tech University.  Each artist will teach workshops on their specific theatrical expertise and help us to put these skills into practice for production. These guests have worked in professional theatres all around the country and are excited to share their knowledge and experience with you.
